Judge a Book by its Cover
Thesis Statement: An analysis of two covers of Pamela: or, Virtue Rewarded is done to help understand the relationship between the themes of the book and the characters depicted in the front cover, together with the woman and man holding each other’s hands. Pertaining the cover by Dover Thrift Edition, it portrays the woman rejecting the man’s advances, while the cover by Penguin classicsreveals a different scenario as the woman seeks the hand of the man requesting for an acceptance. Eventually, the covers show the dynamic nature of social relations of people in different levels of society.
The cover of every book is important as it is a reflection of what is contained in the entire book. In this paragraph, I argue that the physical outlook of a book helps identify the author together with the publisher and year of publication. Moreover, the cover can help identify the number of years a book might have been in use. Using examples fromthe Dover Thriftedition, the cover indicates that the book was published in 2015, but it has been in use for a while, thus, it seems old.
In the front cover of the DoverThriftedition, there is a man and a woman who are both well dressed. In this paragraph, I argue that the body language and outfits of characters portray their argument and class in society. Using examples fromDover Thrift, the man, however, has a more expensive and better-looking outfit than the woman. Hence, he is in a position of power over the woman, and he uses the influence and power to force the woman to do something that she does not want.
The title of the first book is also used to show us what is contained in the entire book. In this paragraph, I argue that the size of letters, their positioning, and the placement of images have a symbolic meaning to the contents of the book. Using examples fromPenguin Classics the font used to write this book is smaller and more compact thanthat used to write the book from Dover Thrift. As such, the reader might strain more when reading the Penguin Classics version.
The cover of a book goes a long way in showing a reader what is contained in the book and if reading it is worth their time. In this paragraph, I argue that the situation, number of characters, what they seem to do, and their age are significant in giving a summary of what transpires in the whole book. Using examples fromPenguin Classics, its cover includes a larger number of characters than those in the Dover Thrift version. Thus, the characters in the book are more, andthey have a more pronounced rolethan before.
Source: According to Yampbell (2005, p. 348), “the cover of a book is often the reader’s first interaction with it—the consumer’s initial reading of the text. When a bookstore’s shelves are filled with unknown books and authors, a book’s cover must provide visual intrigue to entice a consumer.” This is crucial because cover art is a key factor in a book’s success.
In conclusion, the cover of a book is significant for identifying the author, publisher, year of publication, and the number of years a book might have been in use. Also, the cover helps show thebody language and outfits of characters, which portray their argument and class in society. Similarly, the size of letters, their positioning, and the placement of images have a symbolic meaning to the contents of a book. Finally, the book covers work to show the situation, number of characters, what they seem to do, and their age, hence, a summary of what transpires in the whole book. Therefore, books should be judged by their covers because they have sufficient information to attract readers.

Your argument is well developed , I just feel like your sentences are too long. You should make them separate clauses or just cut some of them. Your thesis for example is way too long and a bit confusing, I understand your talking about the distinction of the woman holding her hand but I feel like you should read it out loud to catch the mistakes with some of your sentences, they run- on. Your argument talks about how these cover show society relations but your conclusion states that books should actually be judged by their covers , that confuses me.
I liked how you developed your argument and topic sentences. If there is anything I recommended is to double check on some sentences to see if you really do need them. I’m saying this because of the length. But over all I think you have a strong thesis and well developed analysis to go with it.
Your argument and topic sentences seem well developed. Thought, I do recommend to shorten more your topic snetence because it is a bit too lengthy. and with it being lenghty it can be confusing.
I agree with everyone’s comments as well. I understand the argument you are trying to convey but simplify it in a sense where it is obvious.
I agree with your peers re: editing and breaking up ideas. I would also suggest you rephrase the passive voice sentences to either credit the editors, the cover, or turn them into a statement (claim).
