Before Sunday, May 13, write a post that includes your revised thesis statement, topic sentences, and at least one sentence incorporating a secondary source. Once you’re done, find at least 3 peers’ posts and offer them feedback (you’ll find them by clicking on the category “outlines” under the title). Be specific! Ask questions, challenge their claims, and point out ways to revise/expand. Try to find at least one post that has zero or only one comment on it. Your post will look something like this:
- Thesis: ……. (specific, thought-provoking, and argumentative)
- Topic sentence 1: [argumentative claim]
- In this paragraph I argue that …. using examples from….
- Topic sentence 2: [argumentative claim]
- In this paragraph I argue that …. using examples from…
- Topic sentence 3: [argumentative claim]
- In this paragraph I argue that …. using examples from…
- Topic sentence 4: [argumentative claim]
- In this paragraph I argue that …. using examples from….
- Source: According to X, covers offer “…..”. This is crucial because… (this is only one example! Use your own words).
- Optional: include your conclusion so we can evaluate how all the ideas come together
Your feedback might evaluate whether the topic sentences are argumentative enough; whether you think this can be proven, or needs to be defined further or more carefully; whether there are any sentences that are too broad or lack argumentation; and whether the sentences seem to help prove the thesis. If there is a conclusion provided, explain what you understood by it and whether you felt like the conclusion adequately proved that the covers add something new or interesting to our understanding of the novels and/or their cultural impact.
