Online Class Assignments: 2/5

Before class:

Read the assignments linked on the schedule page. Take notes and save important quotes using your preferred annotation method (we will use Hypothesis for our group project, so you might want to get acquainted with it, but other options, including traditional notebooks work, too). You will want to figure out your methods early, so that you have ideas and notes to refer during discussion.

During class time:

After reading the assigned texts on the schedule, hop on Twitter for discussion. Because we’re not meeting as a class, I recommend you use our class time in order to maximize our interactions. I’ll be live from 2pm-3pm to lead discussion, asking questions, and adding some contextual information. In addition to following along, try to ask questions of your own, answer questions and comments from your peers, and retweet comments you find interesting. Try not to Google summaries or analyses of these readings–I want to see your ideas and reactions, rather that your ability to search through sources.  If you must use something from an outside source, please link to it.

In order to maintain everything in the same convo, be sure you’re adding the hashtag #ENG333.

On your time (but before Monday 2/5 at 5pm):

  1. Review the syllabus, watch the videos linked below and complete the online quiz.
  2. Read through the Group Annotation instructions, post any questions you have in the comments. Think about signing up for a slot.
  3. Review the prompt for Blog #1, due February 20, post  any questions in the comments. If you weren’t in class on 1/29, you will need to contact me to get the feathers.
