                                                         How women Dressed before

In the 18th century it was established by society that women had to wear certain pieces of fabric. The standard of the ideal women was that she had to have a slim waist. In order to achieve the “slim waist” women had to wear very tight fitting corsets under their garments ,which created the illusion of a slim waist. Women also styled their hair differently. They used to use fake hair in other to create the illusion of having a lot of hair and their hair was mostly tied never out. In the video i saw that women had to wear pieces under their outer garments and that their knee high socks were not to be seen in public. Women also wore silk fabrics and had to carry a hand fan as well. Their skirts and blouses were elegant and they usually wore shoes with an elevated heel.

Today in the western world women dress however they want but they are still required to dress a  certain way by society. Their are those individuals that are very bold but for a woman to be considered “classy or elegant” by a male she can not dress with little clothing. In the professional world there is a dress code short skirts or clothing that show too much skin are seen as unprofessional. In a way there is an established dress code for very occasion where women are required to dress modestly. Sheer and nude clothing are in style  now, if you wear see through pants that is no problem for today although that is very bold.  Western Society  just like in the 18th century encourages the use of makeup although it is better to go for the more natural look. There is not an actual standard to style your hair as long as  the individual feels comfortable.

My style is a mixture of all kinds I dress for the right occasion and it reflects that I am a casual, simple person. Style has become “personal” during the last centuries. People in the Western world   have more freedom to dress however they want and do not have to necessarily follow the status quo as long as they feel comfortable. That applies to women generally in the Western World.
